etv i-gen is etv's first regional production office and is home to i-gen.tv, the UK's first 360 degree commissioning portal that enables both university student and academics to fast-track their ideas on-air, online and on mobile phone devices. We launched this project in partnership with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) with the aim of discovering the next generation of successful multi-platform formats and hot topics from a pool of over 6,500 students and academics all specialising in media, communications, art, design and architecture.

etv i-gen works with the UCA to shape all submitted ideas and pick a selection to pitch into relevant broadcasters. The project launched in September 2009, and will be rolled out nationwide in 2010. Students and academics from the UCA receive regular updates on what commissioning editors are looking for, as well as tips on how to develop their ideas into multi-platform formats.
