The etv media group was commissioned by ITV to create Glitterball, an entertaining and vibrant new programme which aired late nights on ITV1 and ITV2. Having achieved phenomenal success with The Mint, we worked closely with ITV's commissioner to create a strong new consumer proposition.

  • Create an entertaining format which invites a completely new and compelling consumer proposition in terms of playing along - a new call-to-action
  • Meet ITV's brand values and seamlessly fit within ITVs programme portfolio
  • Challenge the existing call TV channels in the market and any new entrants
  • Make the look and feel like a real game-show to make it a more familiar experience for a wider audience

Launched on the 19th February 2007, Glitterball broadcast four hours a night, four nights a week. etv brought a totally new approach to entertainment within a participation framework:

  • Revolutionary net allowing unlimited changes
  • Strong entertainment emphasis
  • Mix of physical and graphic games
  • Live and interactive stunts

Key to our approach was to involve viewers more, to really build on the sense of community and fun and to introduce a strong new streak of competitiveness into the whole show.
